Botox Injections

Anti-Wrinkle Treatments

Anti-wrinkle treatments involve the injection of a refined neurotoxin to relax the muscles in the face.

This helps reduce the signs of ageing by smoothing out the appearance of wrinkles, helping the skin to appear more youthful and rested.

Anti-wrinkle Treatments

The anti-wrinkle injection used is Botulinum toxin - a refined neurotoxin.

It is locally injected into the muscles of facial expression causing relaxation of those muscles.  This occurs as the toxin blocks nerve signals reaching the muscles leading to their paralysis

When it is injected in small quantities into these muscles, it can help reverse some of the changes in muscle dynamics associated with the development of fine lines and wrinkles, and brow heaviness.

Anti-wrinkle injections should never be done to completely eliminate facial expression but should be used to gently lift and open the eyes, reduce frown and forehead lines, and give a well-rested appearance.

Additional Information

What areas can be treated?

Botulinum toxin injections are used mainly for smoothing the fine lines on the face. The treatment we offers includes the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes.

Are there side effects?

Common side effects include swelling and inflammation at the injection sites, this usually improves within 48 hours.

Sometimes bruising can occur if a blood vessel is punctured during the procedure, this can take up to 1-2 weeks to subside.

Some clients may also experience headache and flu-like symptoms.

There can also be side effects such as heaviness of the brows, drooping of the eyelids and facial asymmetry.

How long does it take to work?

Following the injections, there is a lag period before the clinical effects appear - usually about 3-5 days, reaching the full effects by about day 10-14 post-treatment.

What is the downtime?

There is virtually no downtime, although the injection sites may be slightly red and raised following the treatment. This usually settles within a few minutes, but can take up to 48 hours.

How long does the effects last?

As everyone is different, this will vary between individuals.

Typically, results last between 3-4 months, but it can last as long as 6 months.

In order to maintain results, repeated treatments are required but this must not be done within 3 months. (You can of course have top ups, if needed)

This is because it can increase the risk of immunity to the neurotoxin and reduce the effect of it.

FAQS

Can I get a top up?

As our approach involves conservative dosing, particularly with new clients to ensure a natural resuls, this may mean an additional dose may be required following the first treatment. Additional dosing would be performed as a complimentary 'top up'  2 weeks post treatment.
