Microneedling

Microneedling is involves  creating micro-injuries to the dermis and epidermis of the skin non surgically. It can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, irregular skin surface texture and melasma type hyperpigmentation.

This treatment involves the use of a sterile needling device to induce a healing response in the skin.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using a device equipped with tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Microneedling aims to stimulate the body's natural healing response and promote collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture and appearance.

During a microneedling session, a numbing cream is applied to minimize any discomfort. Then the microneedling device is rolled over the skin, creating small punctures. These tiny injuries trigger the body's wound healing process, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin—the proteins responsible for maintaining the skin's structure and elasticity.

The benefits of microneedling include:

  1. Improved skin texture: Microneedling helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin texture. By promoting collagen production, it encourages the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

  2. Enhanced absorption of skincare products: The micro-channels created by microneedling allow topical serums, creams, and lotions to penetrate deeper into the skin, maximizing their effectiveness.

  3. Reduction of hyperpigmentation: Microneedling can aid in reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, such as age spots or sunspots, by breaking up excess melanin and encouraging even skin tone.

  4. Tighter and firmer skin: As collagen and elastin are stimulated, the skin becomes more plump, firm, and youthful-looking.

  5. Treatment of acne and acne scars: Microneedling can help improve acne by reducing sebum production and promoting skin healing. It also minimizes the appearance of acne scars by breaking down scar tissue and promoting collagen remodeling.

  6. Minimally invasive and safe: Microneedling is considered a safe procedure with minimal downtime and minimal risk of adverse effects when performed by a trained professional.

The number of microneedling sessions required varies depending on individual needs and goals, but multiple treatments are typically recommended for optimal results.

Microneedling with skin treatments

In our clinic we offer treatments during your microneedling session.

Microneedling with the application of topical serums is a popular combination treatment that harnesses the benefits of both techniques to enhance skin rejuvenation and address specific skin concerns.

Microneedling creates micro-injuries in the skin, and when combined with the use of targeted serums, the active ingredients in the serums can penetrate deeper into the skin through the micro-channels created by the needles. This allows for greater absorption of the active ingredients, maximizing their effectiveness.

The choice of topical serums depends on the your specific skin concerns. For example, serums containing hyaluronic acid can provide intense hydration, plumping the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C serums can help brighten the skin and improve uneven skin tone, while serums with peptides can aid in collagen production and skin firmness. Additionally, serums with ingredients like niacinamide, retinol, or antioxidants can target specific concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, or aging.
